The joint multi-disciplinary #OperationShanela conducted from Monday, 20 April until Sunday, 26 April 2026 resulted in the confiscation of 3,171 Kilograms of dagga and apprehension of seven hundred and eighteen suspects for various offences committed across the Limpopo province.
Amongst the offences committed comprises of illegal dealing in liquor, possession of illegal cigarettes, possession of dangerous weapons, possession of drugs and rape.
The operations were positively conducted in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies consisting of:
▶️South African Defence Force (SANDF), Traffic Police, SARS, Ledet, Youth Desk, Community Policing Forum (CPF), Department of Home Affairs, Education, Social Development as well as Trade and Industry.
The operations were executed through high visibility patrols, roadblocks, stop and searches, vehicle check points, tracing of wanted suspects, visit to farms, licensed liquor premises inspections, and informal business inspected such as spaza shops to ensure labour law compliance.
