A eleven (11) year old male was assisted after arriving home with a handcuff secured to his leg this afternoon (Tuesday, 28/04/2026) in Waterloo – KZN.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to Carrot Road for assistance. On arrival, Reaction Officers made contact with the minor and his mother. The child was found with a handcuff fastened to his right leg.
It was established that the minor had been playing with friends when a thirteen (13) year old boy produced a set of handcuffs. While playing, one (1) side of the restraint was secured to the child’s leg and could not be removed.
The minor returned home after experiencing pain due to the handcuff being tightly secured. Attempts by family members to remove the restraint were unsuccessful and resulted in damage to the mechanism.
Reaction Officers utilised a bolt cutter to remove the restraint.
