A man was shot multiple times after leaving a residence where he had been watching the Orlando Pirates match in Osindisweni – KZN this afternoon (Saturday, 16/05/2026).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received reports of a shooting at approximately 16:55. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.
On arrival Officers interviewed the caller who explained that she had been watching the soccer match with the victim and several other people shortly before the incident. After the game ended the man left the house and walked towards his nearby residence.
Moments later multiple gunshots were heard. Residents rushed outside and found the victim lying unconscious on the side of the road.
The injured man had already been transported privately to hospital in a critical condition before the arrival of Reaction Officers.
While attending to the scene Reaction Officers were informed that the victim had succumbed to his injuries in hospital. The deceased sustained seven (7) gunshot wounds to his chest. Several spent 9mm cartridges were recovered.
The motive for the murder has not been established.
