A venomous snake measuring approximately 1.2 metres in length was removed from a bedroom at a residence on Mercury Drive in Riet River – KZN yesterday (Monday, 18/05/2026).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the property after a resident requested urgent assistance after the reptile was discovered inside the couple’s bedroom while they were asleep.
It was established that the woman awoke after noticing movement inside the room and discovered the Black Mamba near the bed. She immediately alerted her husband who thereafter contacted the Operations Center for assistance.
