Crime combating operations resulted in the confiscation of firearms, ammunition, and the arrests of two suspects in separate incidents on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
At around 03:00, the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team, in collaboration with the Counterfeit and Illicit Policing Team, was conducting patrols in Kraaifontein. In the process, they received intelligence about drug activities taking place at a house located in the area. They quickly responded and, upon arrival at the mentioned address, searched the premises. The search led to the discovery of a firearm and 13 rounds of ammunition hidden in the ceiling.
A 31-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition, and he will appear in the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court once charged.
Meanwhile, in Samora Machel at approximately 05:40, police members arrested a 42-year-old male suspect for the possession of two prohibited firearms. Members uncovered the two 9mm pistols in his house following information received. He is due to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court once charged.
