A tow truck responding to a collision on Umdloti Beach Road near Waterloo, KwaZulu-Natal, overturned after striking a pedestrian this morning (Tuesday, 26/05/2026).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Officers responding to a head-on collision involving a silver Renault Kwid and a white Hyundai H100 bakkie discovered the overturned tow truck approximately five hundred (500) metres from the initial scene.
It was established that the tow truck driver was travelling to the collision scene when he struck a pedestrian before losing control of the vehicle and overturning.
The pedestrian sustained critical injuries and was stabilised before being transported to a medical facility by Paramedics from a private ambulance service.
The tow truck driver sustained minor injuries.
