Mahindra returns to Sun City on Saturday, 27 June as the power behind the second year of Ziyakhala Mo Sun City, a celebration of South African culture and music hosted at the iconic Sun City Superbowl.
As the official vehicle partner, Mahindra will not only take care of the VIP and artist transport but will also provide vehicles to the organisers to support the smooth running of the event.
“The event is a fantastic celebration of South African music and culture, and we love the energy with which fans show up in the latest fashion, or in their vibrant cultural dress,” says Ankit Taneja, CEO of Mahindra South Africa.
“For us, this is a perfect halfway stop between our own Mahindra Fusion Fest and the start of the next year’s Fusion Fest Roadshow, which makes it a great fit for our brand and our ethos of supporting local art, culture and music. With this in mind, we are extremely excited to once again partner on this event.”
For the uninitiated, the Mahindra Fusion Fest was created as a gift from Mahindra to South Africa to celebrate its 20th birthday in South Africa. Since entering the market in 2004, Mahindra has grown to become a top 10 brand and a household name in South Africa.
Much like the Mahindra Fusion Fest, Ziyakhala Mo Sun City is a rich fusion of local music and fashion. Artists that represent the best of different local music genres perform throughout the day. At the same time, attendees are encouraged to show up in their sharpest fashion or cultural dress, ensuring that the entire show and afterparty celebrate South African culture.
This year, the line-up features South African superstars such as Khuli Chana, Shandesh and Mahindra Fusion Fest performers Mafikizolo, Young Stunna and the maskandi star Khuzani. Other artists such as Dr Colbert Mukwevho, Vee Sholo, Encore, Sannere and Undzundza Neenkhali Zebhosa have also been confirmed.
Behind the scenes, the Mahindra line-up will include the Mahindra XUV700, the top-selling XUV 3XO and the Scorpio-N.
Of this fleet, Mahindra has allocated the luxury XUV700 and Scorpio-N flagship models for artist and VIP transport. Both vehicles can seat up to seven occupants in luxury, thanks in part to plush leatherette upholstery, multi zone climate control and high-fidelity cinema-style audio courtesy of SONY.
The XUV 3XO, one of South Africa’s best-selling compact SUVs, will join the party as a support vehicle and can be seen onstage, offering great fuel efficiency, comfortable operation and easy manoeuvrability, thanks in no small part to its six-speed automatic transmission, 1.2 turbo-petrol engine and turning radius of just over five metres.
Lastly, the Mahindra Pik Up fleet will take care of heavy lifting for the Mahindra team heading to the event. This proudly South African assembled vehicle is officially ranked as one of South Africa’s three best-selling single cab bakkies, which is no surprise considering its load capacity of over 1 tonne and its powerful 2.2 turbodiesel engine.
