On Monday, 13 July 2026, members of the Parkweg Crime Prevention Unit were conducting foot patrols in Bastion Street, at the long-distance taxi rank area in Bloemfontein. The members observed a suspicious transaction between two African males.
Members tactically followed the first suspect, accosted him and searched him. Two small transparent zip-lock bags containing suspected crystal meth were found in the possession of the 24-year-old male.
The team then pursued the alleged seller. Police followed him into a store and requested to search the premises. One of the vigilant members noticed a loose tile behind the toilet seat. The tile was lifted, revealing a black plastic bag containing a small weighing scale, a scoop, 53 small zip-lock packets of crystal meth, a cutting agent, and 454 grams of methamphetamine.
The 44-year-old foreign national was immediately placed under arrest. The crime scene was processed, and two cases of possession of drugs were opened at Parkweg Police Station.
The two suspects are expected to appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon.
