A suspected serial thief has been apprehended by KZN VIP Officers following a swift response to a theft in progress in the Stonebridge area on Saturday morning.
At approximately 08:00, KZN VIP Control Centre received a call from a concerned resident reporting that an unknown male was on her property removing items from the yard. KZN VIP Response Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers located the suspect still on the premises and swiftly apprehended him without incident.
A search of the suspect resulted in the recovery of multiple housebreaking implements, several knives, as well as copper taps and copper pipes believed to have been stolen. A nearby resident subsequently identified a portion of the recovered property as belonging to her residence on Ranmoor Crescent.
During further questioning, the suspect admitted to stealing additional items from a property on Stonebridge Drive. KZN VIP Tactical Officers immediately responded to the location indicated by the suspect and successfully recovered the remaining stolen property, which had been concealed in nearby bushes.
Preliminary investigations have further established that the suspect is allegedly linked to two additional theft incidents reported earlier the same morning.
The suspect was handed over to SAPS for further investigation and criminal proceedings.
KZN VIP commends the vigilance of the residents who promptly reported the suspicious activity, as well as the swift actions of its Response and Tactical Officers, whose coordinated efforts resulted in the successful apprehension of the suspect and recovery of the stolen property.
