Operations conducted under the banner of Operation Shanela II are yielding the desired outcomes. This was demonstrated when, on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Tracing Team arrested two suspects aged 35 and 40 at Muden for being in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The Provincial Tracing Team operatives conducted an intelligence-driven operation at Jabulani Village under the Muden policing precinct. Two targeted homesteads were simultaneously searched, resulting in the recovery of two unlicensed 9mm pistols with twenty-two (22) rounds of ammunition, as well as the arrest of two suspects.
The arrested suspects were charged with unlawful possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. They appeared before the Greytown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 30 October 2025, and are currently out on bail.
In another operation conducted at Ntabamhlophe on Thursday, 29 October 2025, the team arrested a 52-year-old suspect for possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol with nine (9) rounds of ammunition.
The suspect will appear today, 31 October 2025, at the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court.
