Solly Mongwe was among 135 employees celebrated at the annual ATNS Rewards and Recognition event, which honoured staff for long service ranging from 5 to 40 years.
Reflecting on his ten-year journey, Mongwe shared, “This experience has provided me with a strong operational foundation and a deep understanding of aviation safety and information management.”
For eight years, he served as a Briefing Officer, ensuring pilots received accurate aeronautical and meteorological information. “That role sharpened my attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work under pressure,” he noted.
Transitioning into his current role as Data Officer, Mongwe now manages and validates aeronautical data. “It strengthened my problem-solving skills and deepened my understanding of how quality data underpins safe air navigation services.”
He credits ATNS with shaping his professional maturity and resilience: “Continuous learning, teamwork, and accountability have motivated me to keep adding value to the organisation.”
Acting CEO Matome Moholola praised staff for their “consistency, integrity, and excellence,” while Board Chairman Zola Majavu thanked awardees for their loyalty and embodiment of ATNS values. “Let’s support each other to achieve our targets and take ATNS to greater heights,” he urged.
