On Thursday 04 June 2026, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Northern Region Task Team Officers, recovered a stolen vehicle and property valued at approximately R200,000, during an operation conducted in Ebony Park Extension 6.
Officers acted on information and tracking coordinates supplied by a tracking company regarding a reported stolen white Toyota Quantum. They followed the information and upon arrival on Boschoff Road, Ebony Park, Officers located the vehicle parked inside a residential yard. A preliminary inspection revealed that the Toyota Quantum had been partially stripped. The front registration plate were missing, while a Gauteng registration plate had been fitted to the rear. Further investigation showed that the licence disc did not correspond with the vehicle’s details.
The property owner informed Officers that he had no knowledge of how the vehicle came to be on the premises, stating that he discovered it in the yard that morning. He further advised that he shares the property with several tenants, none of whom were present at the time.
With the owner’s consent, Officers conducted a search of two open tenant rooms on the property. During the search, they recovered x20 boxes containing Samsung lithium-ion batteries with an estimated value of R200,000.
The recovered batteries were booked in at Ivory Park SAPS for further investigation, while the stolen Toyota Quantum was towed to the Aeroton SAPS Vehicle Pound.
No arrests have been made at this stage, and investigations are ongoing.
