The Retail Motor Industry Organisation (RMI) has announced the appointment of Henk Ferreira as its new Chief Operations Officer, effective 1 July 2026.
Ipeleng Mabusela, Chief Executive Officer of the RMI, says Ferreira’s appointment strengthens the organisation’s operational leadership capacity at an important time for the automotive aftermarket industry. “Henk’s track record of turning strategy into operational results, combined with his depth of experience across automotive finance, insurance and dealer networks, makes him an excellent fit for the RMI as we continue delivering value for our members and key stakeholders,” says Mabusela.
Ferreira brings more than 23 years of progressive senior leadership experience across operational management, digital transformation, and regulated financial services. He joins the RMI from Motus Holdings (JSE-listed), where he served as Executive Head: Sales & Partnerships at M-Sure, carrying full P&L accountability across a national independent and franchised dealer network.
Prior to that, he spent seven years at AutoTrader SA (Naspers/Prosus), where he was part of one of the country’s most significant commercial automotive digital transformations. In this role, he was responsible for driving growth across new channels, including commercial, agriculture, bike and leisure segments while building the governance frameworks, operational infrastructure, and reporting systems that sustained the business’s growth.
Ferreira has hands-on experience and understanding of FSCA and FAIS obligations within a regulated environment and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (NQF 8) as well as an Associate professional designation (AIISA) through the Insurance Institute of South Africa. He has been nominated for the Motus Future Leaders Programme at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) and plans to resume his Master of Philosophy with specialisation in Innovation and Development at the University of Johannesburg.
