Members attached to SAPS Mthatha Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit arrested a 72-year-old male suspect of Tyelebana locality, Xhongorha A/A, under Bityi policing precinct in the Eastern Cape, on Tuesday, 21 July 2026, for possession of suspected stolen livestock during their follow-up operation.
The 72-year-old male suspect was found in possession of 16 sheep and two lambs. The sheep’s identification marks were tampered with and the suspect failed to provide satisfactory account of all the stock. The estimated value of the livestock is approximately R25,000.00.
The arrested suspect is set to appear before Bityi Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, for possession of suspected stolen livestock.
