Apparently the Spanish police agreed to placate a ‘bank hostage’ situation by allowing the radical to ‘escape’ uninhibited.
He was allowed to walk out of the bank in the company of 2 hostages.

As requested, the police provided him with a motorcycle and free access to the motorcycle.
Then, leaving the hostages behind, he was permitted to ride away down a clear roadway to make his ‘escape.’

15 people have sustained injuries after a collision between two light motor vehicles and a taxi at the intersection of Howard Street and Howick main Road in Howick CBD area this morning.

ER24 and EMRS arrived on the scene to find the taxi on its side and the two light motor vehicles close by with extensive damage to both vehicles. The commuters from the taxi were found outside of the vehicle seated near to the pavement. The patients were assessed and found that three people had sustained suspected neck and back and were placed on specialised boards to protect their spines from any further injury. Twelve other patients including a driver from one of the light motor vehicles were treated for minor to moderate injuries, which ranged from small cuts and bruises to general body pains. All patients were stabilised on scene and transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical care.

It is unclear who was at fault but the necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further. The road had to be closed to traffic while the emergency personnel treated and stabilised the patients.

A gentleman believed to be in his late 50′s and an owner of a garden refuses service has died, while cutting tree branches and allegedly falling off a three story house in Westville this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics were called to the scene and found the man lying on the concrete floor in a critical condition. Paramedics started Advanced Life Support intervention techniques to save his life but unfortunately the man passed away on scene due to the traumatic injuries he had sustained from the fall.

No one is sure what really happen but it’s believed that heat have lost his footing and fell off the roof.

[HILLCREST – 09 JANUARY 2012 AT 08H00]

A light motor vehicle travelling on the N3 in the direction of Pietermaritzburg, left the road near to Peacevale and rolled numerous times, ejecting the driver before coming to a halt in the centre medium of the freeway this morning.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the vehicle stationary on its wheels with extensive damage. The driver was found a few meters away and in a lot of pain. The patient was assessed and found that he had sustained severe facial injuries and paramedic’s suspected possible neck and back injuries. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient before he was transported to Hillcrest Private Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

It is unclear what caused the driver to lose control of his motor vehicle but the local authorities will have to investigate the accident further to determine the cause.

About 20km outside of Vereeniging on the Vereeniging – Potchefstroom Road, a single vehicle lost control and rolled numerous times and went down an embankment leaving one person in a critical condition and three others with minor injuries this afternoon.

Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the vehicle off to the side of the road down the embankment with extensive to the vehicle. The passenger was entrapped and was in a critical condition. The patient had suffered broken bones and suspected neck and back injuries. Advanced Life Support Intervention was performed on the patient while the local Fire Department used rescue equipment to extricate the patient from the vehicle.

The three other occupants from the vehicle were treated for minor to moderate injuries. All four patients were transported to Mediclinic Vereeniging for further medical intervention.

It is unclear what caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle but the local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.

A 17 month old baby boy was knocked by a car as he was in the road in the informal settlement, Freedom Square, in Bloemfontein.

It is not immediately clear as to why the baby was in the road in the first place, but it is believed that the mother was nearby, possibly visiting with a neighbour. The baby luckily suffered only moderate injuries in the form of bruises and scrapes to his head and limbs, but he was in a stable condition when he was taken by ambulance to the Pelonomi Hospital.

The driver of the Ford was not injured.

The boy’s mother accompanied him to hospital.

13 people have been injured after two motor vehicles collided into one another on Edendale Road in the direction of Pietermaritzburg this morning.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the two vehicles in the middle of the road with extensive damage to both. The commuters from the vehicles were found outside of the vehicles either lying down or sitting in the rain. Paramedics assessed the patients and found that one person was in a critical condition, three others had sustained serious injuries while the remaining nine patients had suffered minor to moderate injuries. Advanced Life Support intervention was administrated to the critical and serious patients. All patients were stabilised on scene and transported to various hospitals in the greater Pietermaritzburg area for further medical care.

It is unclear how the accident occurred but wet weather conditions may have had some part to play in this accident. The necessary authorities from Pietermaritzburg were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.

A collision between two trucks has taken place on the N3 Pietermaritzburg bound between Keyridge and Peacevale this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found a truck had rear ended another truck in the left hand and second lane of the freeway. Emergency personnel assessed the occupants of the second truck and found that the passenger that was sitting in the passenger seat on the left had sustained serious and traumatic head injuries.

The patient had already succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased on the scene. The driver had sustained minor injuries, while the middle passenger had sustained a possible head and neck injury and was complaining of pains to his shoulder. Advanced Life Support intervention had to be performed on him before they could remove him from the cabin of the truck. He was transported to Hillcrest Private Hospital for further medical care.

It is unclear how the driver lost control of the vehicle but the necessary authorities will investigate the accident further. Traffic has been severely affected heading towards Pietermaritzburg as only two lanes was open to traffic.
