Two incidents this morning around the same time have left two patients with broken bones.
Around 8am, paramedics were called to the intersection of St Augustine Street and St Simon Road in Lavender Hill, Cape Town where a little boy was knocked down by a car while on his way to school. The 6 year old little boy’s grandmother was walking with him to school this morning when he tried to cross the road and a light motor vehicle collided into him.
Paramedics arrived on the scene and found him lying halfway underneath the vehicle behind the drivers side front tyre, and it was clear that the vehicle had driven over him. He was fully responsive but was in a lot of pain. Paramedics treated him for a suspected broken leg and possible head injury and transported him to the Red Cross Children’s hospital for further care. He was handed over to hospital staff in a stable condition.
In the second incident, paramedics responded to the scene of a collision where a young girl in her 20’s was knocked off her scooter while she was travelling on Vryburger street. A BMW was travelling out of Adam Tas street and collided into the scooter.
The young lady suffered two broken legs and she was treated by paramedics on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for further care.
The driver of the BMW was left with no injuries.
Both incidents will be under investigation as to what took place leading to the cause of the collision.
