KWAZULU-NATAL – On Friday, 24 October 2025, the Hawks members from Durban Serious Commercial Crime Investigation conducted a search and seizure operation at a Freight container depot, targeting a container intercepted and detained by border police on suspicion of containing counterfeit goods.
During the operation, the Hawks uncovered an array of counterfeit products including imitations of well-known fashion brands such as Nike, Ellese, Hugo Boss, Fabiani, Puma, Lacoste, Diesel, Gucci, Adidas, Converse, Calvin Klein, Steve Madden, New Balance, Burberry and Versace with an estimated total value of R58 970 400-00.
No arrests have been made at this stage and investigation continues.
The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona extolled the members for the good work.” This successful operation demonstrates the Hawks’ commitment to cracking down on the illicit trade in counterfeit goods”, he concluded.
