WESTERN CAPE – The fight against drugs in the Western Cape continues as Operation Shanela II members seized drugs during stop and search operations in the Cape Flats. On Sunday, 09 November 2025, at around 15:30, Operation Shanela II members were busy with vehicle searches in Long Kloof Circle, Heideveld. They stopped a 28-year-old male suspect and while searching his vehicle, they uncovered 121 small sachets of tik and 71 full mandrax tablets. The suspect was arrested for possession of drugs, and he will make his first court appearance in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court.
Meanwhile, members of Operation Shanela II deployed in Ravensmead stopped a 58-year-old male at Robert Sobukwe Road. They searched his motor vehicle and found five bags of cocaine, 100 grey tablets of XTC, 50 orange tablets of XTC, 40 pink tablets of XTC and an amount of R14 880.00. The 58-year-old male was arrested for dealing in drugs and he will appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court, once charged.
