The South African Police (SAPS) in the Western Cape strongly condemns the violent incident that resulted in the death of three men in Marikana, Philippi East, on Monday morning, 17 November 2025.
At approximately 06:30, a 30-year-old male and two others believed to be in their twenties were shot and fatally wounded on the corner of Sheffield and Nondlwana Roads. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation, and no arrests have been made at this stage. The motive for the attack is still yet to be determined.
Philippi East SAPS has registered three counts of murder for further investigation, and detectives are following up on all available leads to trace those responsible.
