On Monday, 24 November 2025, police in KwaZulu-Natal arrested four (4) suspects aged between 39 and 49, at Nquthu for conspiracy to commit an armed robbery and possession of an unlisenced firearm.
Mzinyathi District Crime Intelligence members sourced information of suspects who were conspiring to commit an armed robbery, at a supermarket at Nquthu. Once all the details of the planned armed robbery were gathered by Crime Intelligence members, they roped in Glencoe K9 members for the purpose of preventing the planned robbery as well as arresting the suspects involved.
At about 15h00, men fitting the description of the suspects were spotted in the vicinity of the targeted supermarket. Glencoe K9 members pounced on the four suspects, upon searching them one suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm, and the other three suspects were carrying firearms which are licensed to them.
The suspects were subsequently charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm as well as conspiracy to commit an armed robbery. The one 49- year-old suspect will appear today, 25 November 2025 at the Nquthu Magistrate’s Court, facing a charge of being in possession of an unlisenced firearm.
The other three suspects will also appear at Nquthu Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 26 November 2025 for conspiracy to commit an armed robbery.
