The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Intervention Unit Officers, arrested two male suspects aged thirty-nine (39) and forty-one (41), for armed robbery in the Actonville area.
While patrolling the area,Officers received a call from radio control regarding an armed robbery in progress on Falkirk Street. They swiftly responded and upon arrival, it was established that the suspects had entered a security guardroom, pointed firearms at two victims, and robbed them of their cellphones before fleeing on foot.
With the assistance of community members, both suspects were apprehended on Van Dyk Road. The suspects were found in possession of
x1 unlicensed firearm with a defaced serial number, x4 live rounds of ammunition, x1 knife and x2 stolen cellphones belonging to the victims.
The suspects were detained at the Actonville Police Station, facing charges of armed robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of suspected stolen property. They are expected to appear in at the Magistrate’s Court soon.
