POLOKWANE – Two suspects, Nelson Chauke (39) and Emerempe Justice Chinonyereme (45), appeared before the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 16 January 2026, for possession of and dealing in drugs in Lephalale Zone Three, Waterberg District, on Thursday, 15 January 2026. Their cases were postponed to Monday, 19 January 2026, for legal representation.
On Thursday, 15 January 2026, at about 07:00, the Lephalale K9 Unit conducted a tactical, intelligence-driven operation around Overwatch in the Lephalale policing area, focusing on drug-related crimes.
During the operation, a foreign male national was found at his rented place, searched, and found in possession of 15 grams of crystal meth, eight (8) × 2.5-gram sachets of crystal meth to an estimated street value of R3 300.00, and cash amounting to R1 900.00.
In another incident, the intelligence-driven operation led members to the Lephalale informal settlement, where a male suspect was arrested in his shack for possession of drugs, namely eight (8) sachets of heroin and three (3) sachets of crystal meth, to an estimated street value of R1 500.00.
The investigation continues.
