At approximately 22:34 last night, our volunteer community responders were dispatched to Atterbury Road in Faerie Glen, following reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian, who had been running across the road, was hit by a passing vehicle, with the driver fleeing the scene without rendering assistance.
Upon arrival, our responders found the pedestrian with critical injuries and immediately initiated emergency first aid. Despite the best efforts of all personnel on scene, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries, with Emer-G-Med critical care paramedics declaring the victim deceased.
Reaction officers from multiple security companies assisted in securing the scene and managing the area until the scene was handed over to SAPS for further processing and investigation.
