We wish to inform residents that the two 30,000-litre water tankers deployed by Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages are currently being filled and prepared for dispatch to various affected communities, where residents will have access to a safe and quality water supply. Acting Municipal Manager Raymond Esau has confimed more additional water tankers will arrive soon from supporting stakeholders and partner municipalities to further strengthen relief efforts.
These tankers will also assist in servicing critical public facilities, including hospitals, clinics, old age homes, businesses, and other priority areas. We would also like to inform the public that some water tankers may not yet be at the locations previously communicated, while others are currently in the process of refilling before returning to their designated points in Worcester and Rawsonville.
In addition, several temporary water standpipes have already been installed since Wednesday at the following locations, and more are expected to be installed to provide residents with alternative access points to potable water:
• Haarlem Street in front of Audensberg church
• Otto Du Plesis street 21and 53
• Quellerieway 5
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank residents for their patience, cooperation, and understanding as municipal teams and partners continue working around the clock to restore normal water services and expand emergency relief operations. Regular updates on the availability of water tankers at various locations will be communicated.
