Two teenagers were arrested in Lansry Walk, Hanover Park, following intelligence-driven operations conducted by the #AntiGangUnit on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.
During the operation, members of the Anti-Gang Unit arrested a 19-year-old male suspect in Lansry Walk who was found in possession of a prohibited firearm and eight rounds of ammunition.
Follow-up operations thereafter led the team to a premises in the same street, where members arrested an 18-year-old male suspect for possession and dealing in drugs after the discovery of 15 sachets of tik, 51 heroin sachets, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Thereafter, a 27-year-old male suspect was arrested at Cascade Court, Hanover Park, when he was found in possession of a prohibited firearm and 11 rounds of ammunition.
All three suspects will appear at the Athlone Magistrate’s Court once they have been charged.
In an unrelated incident, SAPS members in Manenberg were busy with visible policing patrols when they found an abandoned prohibited firearm with 17 rounds of ammunition at a field between the railway tracks and Yusuf Dadoo Street in Manenberg at around 17:00 on Tuesday, 23 June. The firearm and ammunition were booked in as exhibits for further processing. An enquiry was opened at Manenberg SAPS for investigation.
