Witnesses reported to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) that a dying man was refused aid at a nearby clinic, despite being in close proximity, merely fifty meters (50) away from the medical facility.
RUSA Paramedics officially declared sixty (60) year old Manikum Pillay deceased (Friday 09:03) outside the Department of Labour in the Verulam CBD in Kwazulu Natal. The circumstances surrounding the incident involved Pillay, a Phoenix – KZN resident, falling while waiting in line with his fifty eight (58) year old wife, sustaining a head injury from the tiled floor, and succumbing to his injuries minutes later.
Several individuals disclosed that their requests for assistance were denied when they approached a clinic across the road.
