Drowning Incident – Sunrise Bridge
At approximately 09:01 on Wednesday afternoon, 28 January 2026, Rustenburg First Responders received a call regarding a drowning incident that had occurred at Sunrise Bridge.
Information received indicated that a patient had drowned in the river and required immediate assistance. Rustenburg First Responders, together with ER24 EMS, North West Provincial EMS, Boitekong SAPS, Search and Rescue teams, Fire and Rescue Services, as well as a Diving Team, were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, EMS personnel and rescue teams worked hand in hand and were able to successfully recover the patient from the water. Unfortunately, despite all efforts, the patient was declared deceased on scene.
This scene was attended by Rustenburg First Responders, ER24 EMS, North West Provincial EMS, Boitekong SAPS, Search and Rescue, Fire and Rescue Services, and the Diving Team.
