A 35-year-old male suspect was charged for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition in Mooinooi in the North West Province on Saturday, 04 April 2026. The suspect was initially arrested for an offence pertaining to armed robbery and kidnapping that occurred in Mooinooi in April 2026.
An intelligence-driven interview that was conducted with Brits Crime Intelligence produced positive results. Analysis of the information received from Brits Crime Intelligence revealed the location of firearms and an operation commenced between the Brits Trio Task Team, Public Order Policing (POP) deployed team, and Mooinooi Visible Policing (VISPOL).
Upon arrival at the located area in Bapong, four firearms and ammunition were found and were immediately confiscated on Saturday, 04 April 2026.
The Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) processed the seized items and the suspect is expected to appear before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 07 April 2026.
