A man was shot and killed while seated in a parked Toyota Etios on Hillcrest Drive in Buffelsdraai – KZN at approximately 22:09 yesterday afternoon (Thursday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene after receiving reports of a shooting. On arrival, Reaction Officers met members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) from Verulam – KZN who were already in attendance.
A nearby resident informed Reaction Officers that a white Toyota Etios bearing registration had been parked at the entrance of Hillcrest Drive for an extended period.
A few hours later, an unidentified vehicle travelling along Buffelsdraai Road approached the stationary Toyota Etios. Multiple gunshots were fired at the vehicle before the suspects fled the scene.
Residents thereafter approached the vehicle and discovered the driver had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was unresponsive. The vehicle had visible bullet holes on the windscreen, passenger window, and rear left side. The victim was declared deceased on scene.
One (1) live round of ammunition (picture 3) and multiple spent cartridges were recovered at the scene.
