On Tuesday, 21 April 2026 at around 23:30 Delft police members followed up on information they received about a firearm in Blikkiesdorp, Delft. Upon their arrival at the premises, the members searched the place leading to the discovery of a prohibited firearm that was hidden in a cupboard.
A 30-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of a prohibited firearm and will appear in the Bellville Magistrates Court once has been charged.
In an unrelated incident, crime prevention operations were conducted by the Public Order Police in Mfuleni precinct on Wednesday, 22 April 2026 at approximately 02:55.The members noticed three suspicious looking males and as they walked towards them, the suspects ran in different directions.
The members pursued them resulting in a 25-year-old male suspect being arrested for pointing of firearm and possession of a firearm as he pointed one of the members with a firearm at the corner of Itsitsa Street and Nzhelele Street, Mfuleni. The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital for an injury to his foot that he endured during this incident and is under police guard.
Once charged, he will appear at Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court.
