In the quest to rid Cape Town communities of drugs and firearms that are the generators of serious violent crimes, members of Operation Lockdown III with Crime Intelligence embarked on targeted operations in Mfuleni and Kleinvlei on Friday evening, 08 May 2026, which saw significant success.
At New Beginning in Mfuleni, the team arrested a 26-year-old man with a significant quantity of mandrax tablets. He has been charged with possession of drugs and will appear in the Blue Downs court on Monday, 11 May 2026.
Meanwhile in a separate operation, the Lockdown III team descended on a household in Malibu Village, Kleinvlei where they arrested a 39-year-old man for possession of prohibited firearms, ammunition and an assortment of firearm parts with a firearm assembly manual. The find comprised the following:
• Imitation firearm parts
• Two prohibited firearms
• 12 Imitation firearm barrels
• Ten 9mm rounds of ammunition
• Three firearm magazine springs
• Firearm storage boxes
• Assault weapon manual
With gun violence threatening local communities, Operation Lockdown III deployments in the Western Cape are an intervention to curb crime.
