While conducting an operation to remove vagrants beneath Mandela Bridge in Braamfontein, #JMPD #RegionF1 officers spotted a vehicle that was being sought in connection with a hit-and-run case registered at Hillbrow SAPS. The vehicle, a blue Hyundai Atos travelling northbound, was immediately followed & subsequently stopped by the officers.
Upon interviewing the driver, he admitted to fleeing the scene after being involved in the hit and run incident. The suspect was arrested & detained at Hillbrow SAPS. The vehicle was seized & booked in at the Aeroton SAPS Vehicle Pound.
Motorists are reminded that fleeing the scene of an accident is a serious criminal offence. Those who attempt to evade accountability will be traced, arrested & brought before the courts. Road users are urged to act responsibly & report all accidents to the relevant authorities.
