A 35-year-old male, Mosa Allen Dhlamini, was sentenced to 15 years’ direct imprisonment for three counts of possession of stolen motor vehicle, by the Polokwane Regional Court on Monday, 22 June 2026, after pleading guilty to charges relating to possession of stolen motor vehicles.
The conviction stems from a series of intelligence-driven operations conducted by members of the Provincial Vehicle Crime Unit and various law enforcement partners between August 2024 and February 2025.
The accused was first arrested on 02 August 2024 in Makhado after he was found in possession of a stolen Toyota Land Cruiser valued at approximately R4 million. The vehicle was recovered during a coordinated operation involving the Provincial Tracking Team, Provincial Investigation Unit, Tracker Connect, Tshimollo Security, Limpopo Tactical Security and ShadowSecure Security.
Despite being granted bail, the accused was arrested again on 26 September 2024 near Polokwane after he was found driving a stolen Toyota Fortuner valued at approximately R900 000 during another intelligence-led operation. He was once more released on bail.
On 02 February 2025, the accused was arrested for a third time at the Beitbridge Port of Entry after he was found in possession of a stolen Toyota Prado valued at approximately R1 million.
Following this arrest, bail was successfully opposed and the accused remained in custody until the finalisation of the matter.
After pleading guilty to the charges, the Polokwane Regional Court sentenced the accused to 15 years’ direct imprisonment on 22 June 2026.
The successful prosecution was led by Advocate George Sekhukhune, while the investigation was conducted by Sergeant Kgabo Mokaba of the Provincial Vehicle Crime Unit.
