Three male suspects, aged between 30 and 38, were arrested by a multidisciplinary team in Mopani for a business robbery at Turkey number (2), Ga-Sekororo, in the Maake policing precinct on Monday, 25 August 2025, at around 17:00. They are scheduled to appear in court soon.
On Sunday, 24 August 2025, at midday, the Pro-Active Vispol Commander of Maake received a report of a business robbery in progress at Ga-Sekororo village. He quickly assembled team members of the Mopani Tracking Team, Mopani Highway Patrol, and Maake Tracking Team to respond. On their arrival, the members found that the alleged suspects had already fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and groceries.
Preliminary reports indicated that about six armed suspects stormed a well-known tuck shop at Turkey (2) in Ga-Sekororo, Maake, and robbed the business of an undisclosed amount of money and various groceries.
On Monday, 25 August 2025, intelligence information was received about the suspects, and the police managed to identify their hiding place at Ga-Sekororo, Metz Village. Upon advancing towards the premises, the suspects ran in different directions while firing shots at the police. The police returned fire and, in the process, one of the suspects was shot and injured. Two suspects were arrested, and two unlicensed firearms with serial numbers filed off, along with live ammunition, were seized.
The third suspect was apprehended inside the house for being in possession of suspected stolen property (groceries).
The arrested male suspects will appear before the Maake Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges of attempted murder, possession of suspected stolen property, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
