An armed robbery occurred at a house with rented rooms on Buck Road in Waterloo – KZN during the early hours of this morning (Sunday). According to reports, a single suspect armed with a firearm forced open the main gate before breaking down an interior door to gain access to the premises, which contains three rental rooms.
The intruder entered the room of a 48-year-old female tenant and stole a Samsung i26 cellphone. Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 01:21. Upon arrival, Reaction Officers met with the victim and conducted further enquiries. It was established that the suspect attempted to force entry into a second room occupied by a 56-year-old female and three minors.
The occupants pushed against the door and screamed for help, causing the suspect to flee the scene. No injuries were reported.
