The Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit in the Free State is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying four individuals depicted in the attached images, who may possess crucial information regarding an armed robbery that occurred at a retail store situated at the corner of Bok and Muizen Streets, Welkom.
According to reports, on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, at approximately 10:00, a 49-year-old store manager was at a till point attending to a customer when she was approached by an unknown male. The suspect informed her that he was “there to work” and demanded that she cooperate and hand over the cash from the till.
When the manager stated that there was no cash in her till, the suspect instructed her to open an adjacent colleague’s till point instead. The suspect then stole an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene.
No injuries have been reported, and Welkom police opened a case of armed robbery. The investigation will be handled by the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit.
