The police in Upington in the Northern Cape have arrested three male suspects found in possession of a rhino horn on Thursday, 04 December 2025.
This follows after members of ZF Mgcawu Highway Patrol and Task Team were alerted about a vehicle allegedly transporting a rhino horn en route to Upington.
The vehicle was intercepted on the N14 road before reaching Upington with three male occupants aged 42, 47, and 48, respectively.
Upon searching the vehicle, the police discovered a rhino horn, a pistol, and ammunition, which the occupants could not account for.
They were arrested, and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also impounded.
The trio is expected to appear in court soon facing charges, including rhino poaching and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
