One of three people who were shot during an attempted robbery at a church on the north coast of Durban – KZN has died as a result of the injuries sustained.
On Tuesday (09/12/2025), members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to the church premises after receiving reports that three people had been shot during a prayer meeting.
Upon arrival, Reaction Officers established that the injured individuals had already been transported to a medical facility. The extent of their injuries was unknown at that stage. Police have since confirmed that one of the victims succumbed to the gunshot wounds.
Information received was that three male suspects entered the church and held up a congregation of approximately 35 people. The victims attempted to overpower one of the gunmen when the suspects opened fire before fleeing the scene empty-handed.
