A 26-year-old Malawian national was attacked by three unknown males on Todd Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN this morning (Thursday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the scene after witnesses reported a man being attacked. On arrival, Reaction Officers met the victim, who explained that while he was waiting outside his place of employment. Three men surrounded him and demanded his valuables.
He resisted, prompting the suspects to assault him. Two of the men began stabbing him while the third attempted to search him. The victim continued to defend himself, resulting in the suspects failing to rob him. Nothing was taken. The suspects then fled on foot. It is believed the trio are drug users and may be linked to multiple robberies occurring in the Verulam CBD – KZN.
The victim sustained several minor stab wounds to his right hand and facial trauma from the assault.
