On Sunday, 21 December 2025 at 15:30, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Anti-Cable Theft Unit Officers, arrested two male suspects aged twenty-seven (27) and thirty-seven (37) years for tampering with essential infrastructure in the Mayfield area.
While on patrol, Officers caught the suspects in the act on Verster Street, where they were found in possession of approximately 29 meters of aluminium single-core cable, believed to be used for illegal electrical connections.
Both suspects were detained at Putfontein Police Station and are expected to appear before the Magistrate’s Court soon.
