A woman was burnt with melted plastic during a violent house robbery at a residence on Trevennen Road in Lotusville – KZN last night (Sunday, 03/05/2026).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the scene at approximately 23:04 after receiving a call for assistance.
On arrival, the complainant informed Reaction Officers that he was asleep with his wife when he heard a knock on the door at approximately 21:20. He opened the door believing it was another tenant on the property.
He reported that two (2) armed perpetrators forced their way into the room and began assaulting both him and his wife while demanding valuables. The attackers melted plastic and used it to burn the female victim in an attempt to force her to disclose the location of money.
The couple were robbed of two (2) cellphones, a Huawei P10 and Samsung A05, a flat screen television, a Sony radio and approximately R2000 in cash. They were thereafter restrained using rope (picture 3) and locked inside their room.
The intruders proceeded to a neighbouring room where they confronted another male occupant. He was assaulted and robbed of his bank card, and an amount exceeding R3000 was withdrawn after he was forced to provide his PIN. He was also restrained before the suspects fled the scene.
The suspects are believed to have gained entry through a rear window that had been damaged four (4) days prior. Their mode of escape is unknown.
All victims sustained injuries in the attack.
