Just before 10:00, the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit received a call for 2 cyclists who collided with each other on a downhill section of a rural road in the Tierpoort area of Pretoria East. On arrival we found that both bicycles were at high speeds when they collided causing one patient to sustain moderate injuries and the other patient to sustain serious injuries including a suspected high C-spine (neck) fracture and injuries to their head. Both patients were stabilized on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for definitive treatment.
