A 1.2 metre Boomslang was captured on a property in Hazelmere – KZN.
A resident contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance at approximately 13:51. According to the caller, the snake was spotted in a bird’s nest on a tree in their yard. The property owner feared that the reptile could enter one of the homes in the densely populated area and be killed by residents.
Reaction Officer Nkosinathi Ndaba was dispatched and on arrival identified the snake as a Boomslang. The snake’s venom is Haemotoxic and comprises of blood clotting mechanisms.
The Reaction Officer captured the snake and relocated it away from homes.
