Members of Reaction Unit South Africa delivered a healthy baby boy on a pavement in the Verulam CBD earlier today (Sunday).
Shoppers on Ireland Street contacted the RUSA Operations Center at 15:27 & Reaction Officers arrived on scene at 15:30 to find a 23 year old woman crowning/final stages of labour. Officers were unable to move the mother off the pavement & were forced to assist her without delay. At 15:34 the 2.8 kg baby boy was delivered.
The woman & baby were then transported to a local hospital.
