A thirteen (13) year old male suffering from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) was attacked with a beer bottle in Waterloo – KZN this morning (Thursday).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call at approximately 07:36 for urgent medical assistance for the boy. On arrival at his residence on Masingane Road, the male was found to have sustained blunt force trauma to his head and a deep laceration to his left hand.
It was established that the injured male attends a school for child with special needs. He was waiting at the bus stop when he was accosted by a 15 year old male who is known to him, but attends a different school. The older boy struck the victim on his head with a beer bottle which shattered. The suspect used the jagged bottle neck and stabbed the victim before he fled in an unknown direction.
The injured child returned to his residence and informed his family of the incident. Reaction Officers were informed that both males have a history of hostility towards each other. The attack this morning is believed to have stemmed from previous alterations.
The injured child was treated for his injuries before being expedited to hospital by ambulance.
