A 32-year-old man was killed in a house fire at an informal settlement in Blackburn – KZN yesterday afternoon (Sunday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the scene at approximately 22:05 following reports of a blaze engulfing a residence. Upon arrival, Officers met with the deceased’s brother who stated that he had seen his sibling earlier in the day.
He later received a distressing call alerting him that his brother’s home was on fire and that he was still inside. Despite desperate attempts by family and neighbours to extinguish the flames, the man was found deceased in the wood & iron home.
A lit candle is suspected to be the cause of the fire.
