A 29-year-old Malawian national was assaulted with a firearm in Canelands – KZN, after a suspect demanded a cellphone the victim had purchased a week earlier.
The victim informed members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) that he bought a Huawei cellphone from a neighbour for R1 000. Yesterday (Sunday), the suspect entered the victim’s yard and demanded the phone.
When the victim refused, the suspect produced a firearm and assaulted him, causing an open wound to his face. The suspect is known to the victim.
He fled prior to the arrival of Reaction Officers.
