Early morning rush hour was extremely busy for ER24 paramedics this morning after attending too two different accident in the Pinetown area, which involved a taxi and three light motor vehicles, which left thirteen people injured.
The first collision occurred at the intersection of Shepstone Road and Broadway near New Germany. ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found that a taxi and a light motor vehicle had been involved in the accident. Commuters were found seated on the grass verge near the accident. Seven commuters were treated on the scene. One patient had sustained a possible neck and back injury. He was placed on to a specialised board before he was put into the ambulance. Six other commuters all suffered very minor bumps and abrasions. All the patients were transported to R K Khans Hospital for further medical care. It is unclear who was at fault but the necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
The second collision occurred on the Higginson Highway near Klaarwater, just outside Pinetown. ER24 and the Provincial paramedics arrived on the scene and found that two light motor vehicles were slightly off the road with the front of both vehicles smashed. Two patients had sustained serious injuries while four others had sustained minor to moderate injuries. They were all stabilised on the scene and transported to Life The Crompton and R K Khans Hospital for further medical care. Metro police were on the scene and would be investigating the accident further.
In both accidents, traffic was severely affected in all directions.
