Earlier this afternoon paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Service from the Kokstad base, responded to a call of a drowning at a dam near Ingeli school in the Kokstad area, in southern KZN.
When the first responding paramedics arrived on scene they were lead to the patient, who was a six year old girl, who had been rescued from the water by family members. Tragically the girl had already passed away and she was declared dead on scene by the attending paramedics.
She was reportedly one of a group who had been swimming in the dam.
The police are investigating the matter.
