A 24-year-old male motorcyclist was found in critical condition along the R37 in Lydenburg, Mpumalanga this morning.
ER24 paramedics found the man lying in the veld area approximately 10 meters from his motorbike which was on the roadway. Assessments revealed that the man may have lain there for a considerable amount of time before he was discovered.
The patient was unconscious as he sustained severe injuries to his head, which was without a helmet, and had multiple fractures throughout his body.
After swift stabilisation, the patient was airlifted from the scene to Mediclinic Nelspruit for urgent medical treatment.
It is unclear how the collision occurred or how the man was discovered. The matter is under investigation.
